OVERVIEW

Lake Duluti is located in the Arusha region. It is formed inside a volcanic crater and has water throughout the year, mainly from groundwater and seasonal rainfall. The crater is a subsidiary vent to Mount Meru (4,562 m / 14,980 ft) that towers over the lake. The water is incredibly deep, it is said more than 700m, but it’s unconfirmed until this day. The lake is beautifully located between the green, lush forests and lends itself for a great deal of activities.

We offer Lake Duluti as a half day or as full day excursion. WE HIGHLY RECOMEND to do Lake Duluti as a PRIVATE TOUR or by bicycle Cycling . The activity can be done in half a day, but most people who aren’t bound to a busy schedule choose to stay there for the whole day to relax, hop into a canoe, hike around the lake, spot wildlife, watch the birds, views and just enjoy. If you like to go cycling you should definitly choose a full day trip, so you will have enough time to enjoy the lake and it´s stunning nature. Get ready for a day of relaxing, fun and pure enjoyment!

LAKE DULUTI FULL ITINERARY

We will pick you up from Moshi or Arusha in the morning and take you on a short drive to Lake Duluti. Cycling will take 1-2 hours from Arusha and 2-3 hours from Moshi. At the Duluti Forest Club you will enjoy the beautiful surroundings and have a guided hike around the lake. You will explore the old crater that became a lake, learn about its interesting history, the variety of animals and its flora & fauna. It is a paradise for reptiles and birds. Monitor lizards can be seen sunbathing on the edge of the lake and a great variety of birds have made their homes here. Occasionally monkeys can be seen swinging from the treetops on the edge of the lake.

From here you will also have views on Mount Meru and sometimes even Mount Kilimanjaro. After the hike, you can choose to grab a canoe for a spin and paddle around the lake to spot some monitor lizards or just float around in the sun. Upon returning there will be time to relax, drink a beer or juice while chilling with our friends from the forest club.
